What a day that was!!! It was beyond exciting. The only downside is at this moment, I do not have any pictures. We are waiting as many were taken, but none by us.
This was ADOPTION DAY for two of our boys....Jericho Jeremiah-Wade and MacGyver Jamison-Lee Simon. Welcome to your forever family boys. You are forever home.
Now, I have to say, this was a class act. This was like no other adoption day that we have ever experienced. We want to say a huge thank you to Cile Cogburn and all of Washoe County Social Services for making this a day to always remember. The festivities actually started Friday night. We went to a party/dinner in Reno. The food included wonderful kids food and even better grown-up food. They made the most wonderful cupcakes, big and covered with the best frosting. The children were in hog heaven that is for sure.
There was so much for the children to do that we were having to pry them away to eat and then to later leave. They had face painting, balloons, a wonderful magician that keep them totally engrossed forever, seemed like the kids never wanted to come and sit down. It was great.
Then Saturday we got up and everyone put on their best clothes. We loaded up and went to Reno. We arrived at the courthouse just on time. The court room was filled with balloons and just a really friendly place. They videoed taped the entire proceeding for us. People expressed their feelings and Merrill and I were put on the spot with a bunch of questions. It will be a wonderful thing for the boys to have.
Afterwards, pictures were taken and gifts were given to the two boys. Again....WOW!!! The boys received handmade quilts, photo albums with their new names on them, stars with their new names on them and the date they were adopted, letter from Congressmen and other things that I am sure I am forgetting now. We were just in awe of it all.
Isn't it amazing, the children live with you for a year or more and somehow they look totally different after the adoption is done. They are now yours and yours alone. No social worker to stop by, to remember to call, just yours. Two more Simon's, two more brothers for all to share. Two more birth certificates with your names listed as the parents. It is a wonderful day.
You can bet there will be pictures here just as soon as I can get a hold of them.
This is the most amazing journey that God has let us travel. It is understood by most, misunderstood by some but a gift always for Merrill and I. Thank you for traveling with us.
