You know, my daddy always talked about how fast life was going. I just thought he was a bit nuts, but you know, I think that I have to agree with him. It seems like the first half of this year has flown bye. As a family we have been going nonstop. We have had a lot of fun, but it has just been crazy busy.
The most wonderful of times happened June 4th at 7PM. We were seated at Dayton High School for what was the start of Jeremy's graduation. There was the Simon Family, beaming with pride as we watched our very first graduation. Oh, we have many adult children, just none that have graduated from High School. Each of our children have faced obstacles that many children do not. We understand that and we love them for who they are, not because of the road they have traveled.
Now, back to Jeremy. As he walked into the arena with all of his classmates, I am sure that he heard his family cheering as loud as we could. His smile was a mile wide. About a fourth of the way through the ceremonies, they started with all of the awards. They told the crowd what each one meant. Next up, The Presidential Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. And the winner is....Jeremy Simon. What Merrill and I say to each other? Did they just say our son's name? Is that actually Jeremy getting up to walk up front? Well I will be, it sure is. Just how much prouder can we be?
This award is given to one male and one female. It names who has shown the most growth in high school. We have to agree, Jeremy has sure grown up to become a mighty fine young man. He has had his eye on the prize and he has fought his way through. It has taken sheer guts and determination, but he has done it. Jermey, you have made this family very happy. You will go far in life. You are a natural.
